Introducing Our New Communications Director!
Hello blog readers! My name is Maggie and I’m the new director of communications for Girl Lux. This is my first blog post ever! I am excited to share some thoughts with you and also interact with our Girl Lux customers and supporters through the Girl Lux website.
First… a little bit about me and how I got to know Girl Lux! I started working with Girl Lux last October during their successful Kickstarter campaign. I met Melissa, the founder of the company, about a year ago through a previous business engagement and when I heard about this wonderful adventure, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Melissa said she needed someone that loved writing and loved all things about being a girl – and that hit the nail on the head for me. I am so excited and happy to be here and I’m really looking forward to being a part of Girl Lux and all of the special things we have planned for the future.
My fiancé and I live in Blacksburg, Virginia and we are getting married this weekend! We have two crazy dogs – Kenzie and Abbey. Kenzie is a Boxer and she has so much energy that she likes to run around all the time. Abbey is a little older and she is sneaky and gets in trouble a lot for eating Kenzie’s leftover food. They are so silly but we love them so much and they definitely keep us on our toes.
Another reason I feel so lucky to be a part of Girl Lux is that I remember EXACTLY what it’s like to be in that transition stage of life as a tween girl. I was in 6th grade, skinny as a beanpole, and I only wore big baggy tee shirts that I got from swim meets or hand-me-downs from my older cousin. Since I was a swimmer growing up and was used to wearing competitive swimsuits, I was only comfortable wearing a traditional sports bra. That meant that if I chose the comfort of a sports bra, I was also choosing a bra that wasn’t that cute. And that’s what has drawn me to Girl Lux. Our company has so many more options for girls who are starting out in their first bras. Not only are our bras comfortable – which, really, is the biggest part of a first bra – but they’re also stylish. They don’t stick out under clothes and they make the wearer feel like herself. That’s why I wanted to join the Girl Lux team.
I hope you come back again soon and read more of our upcoming blogs. This will be a place where we share our experiences, our ideas, and support each other by focusing on the thing that unifies us – being a girl!
Talk to you soon,
Maggie
